We’re sure when the idea of Twitch first came about, many people were wondering who on earth would want to spend hours watching someone else play video games? However we suppose thanks to some Twitch streamers who have made the streaming process rather entertaining, watching people play video games has become a big thing, so much so that Amazon has decided to snap them up.

However what could be the next thing in unlikely streaming? As it turns out, watching people code live could be the next big thing. There has been a recent trend developing in which users can tune in to live streams and watch people code Minecraft servers, writing compilers, or even building a search engine from scratch.

In fact a new subreddit dedicated to these live streams managed to gain a pretty impressive 2,000 subscribers in 25 days, thus showing that there is a growing interest in this area. We suppose watching coders live is one way for beginners to learn the basics or at least understand how developers work. Everyone works differently but being able to see it live helps put things into perspective.

Also if it’s anything like Twitch, users questions can be addressed live by the developer who might be able to answer your questions on the spot. It’s an interesting idea but what do you guys think? Is watching developers code something you might be interested in?
