microsoft__logoWhile Windows Phone 8 introduced a lot of changes and improvements to the Windows Phone operating system, it is safe to say that many Windows Phone fans are probably more excited for the upcoming Windows 10 platform which is a platform that Microsoft will release for desktops, tablets, and smartphones.

It will be interesting to see how Microsoft will handle it from a smartphone perspective and while a features demonstration video is expected to be released soon, it seems that we might be able to expect a preview sooner than expected. According to the folks at NPU, they have heard from their sources that Microsoft could release the Windows 10 preview for smartphones on the 4th of February.

Previously it had been rumored that Microsoft could release the preview within 2-4 weeks of their announcement on the 21st of January, so given that this is already the second week since the Windows 10 announcement, it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that it could be released this week, but unfortunately this is just a rumor for now.

However given that Microsoft had pushed an update to the Phone Insider app, rebranding it as Windows Insider and enabling login with a Microsoft account, it does appear that Microsoft is indeed gearing up for a possible release in the near future, but when exactly remains to be seen, so until then take it with a grain of salt for now.
