Now that Microsoft has unveiled the customer version of Windows 10 it has to work hard to release a stable version. The company has already said that we should expect the new software to drop later this year. Microsoft is also working on Windows 10 for Phones at the same time so it’ll also be released within the next few months. When will Microsoft finally complete the work on this software? According to a new report June is the target month.

The company has already demonstrated renewed pace with Windows 10 as technical previews are being released quickly with each new build improving the software.

Even though it hasn’t released the Windows 10 for Phones preview now there have been reports about expected release dates, it is widely believed that this preview may come by the end of February.

Neowin reports today that Microsoft is targeting June 2015 to get development wrapped up on Windows 10, however it doesn’t discount the possibility of this timeline slipping due to unforeseen issues.

Getting Windows 10 RTM by June would give OEMs enough time to get their hardware ready. Previously Microsoft’s OS used to hit RTM around August which would push new OEM hardware until October, missing out on the school season, even though it was good for the holiday shopping season.

Shipping Windows 10 to OEMs by June would given them time to come up with products that can hit the market to capture the school shoppers.
