chrome add to home screenWhile there are pretty much apps for just about everything, including websites, there are still some companies and websites that have yet to publish apps of their own, instead they rely on users to visit their website in order to use their services or to find out more information. However the semi-good news is that Google wants to make accessing these websites even easier.

The company has recently announced that they will now be creating an App Install Banner on Chrome for Android which will basically popup on websites that will then prompt the user to add that page to his/her home screen. Adding websites to home screens isn’t new but with this feature, it will be displayed more prominently and will save users time from having to go through Chrome’s menu.

The feature is currently live in Chrome 42 which is still in beta, meaning that it has yet to be released to the masses just yet, but hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for it. Now to prevent the feature from being overly spammy, one of the requirements of its use is for users to have visited a particular website at least twice over two separate days in the course of two weeks.

Once you dismiss the popup, it won’t show again until you clear your history and start visiting the website again, although users can always access the feature through Chrome’s menu and settings.
