xbox-one-mccIt would certainly be nuts to envision us living without electricity in this day and age – definitely unfathomable for the younger, connected generation. Having said that, as the world’s population explodes, effort must be made to ensure that we are all the more efficient when it comes to using our resources. It does seem as though a simple setup change might actually see Xbox One owners in the US save up to $250 million annually where their energy bills are concerned.

Despite your Xbox One looking like it is off, it still does draw significant amounts of power so that it will be able to turn itself on whenever you mention “Xbox on”, and this does not stop round the clock unless you pull out the power plug from the socket in the first place.

So far, the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) had already requested Microsoft to implement a setup change in order to avoid energy dollars being wasted in the current manner, but such appeals looked to not have done anything at all. Perhaps things will change in the future, but if a console were to be in a standby mode so that you can speak to it to turn it on, then it does not look as though there is a viable way than to constantly being in standby mode at this point in time – at least until battery technology advances to a whole new level.
