newbee dota2If you’re a huge fan of Valve’s DotA 2 video game, chances are you would be interested in catching The International which can be considered the biggest DotA 2 tournament of the year. The good news is that if you’re planning on catching it live, tickets are expected to go on sale today starting at 1PM EDT.

Gamers who are interested should probably move fast since last year’s tickets sold out in under an hour. Tickets will be limited to five per household so you won’t have to worry about scalpers who buy in bulk and try to resell them to you at a higher price. The International is expected to take place from the 3rd to the 8th of August later this year and will be held at the Key Arena in Seattle.

This year’s tournament will also run a little bit longer across 6 days versus last year where it ran at 4 days. There will be 16 teams that will be participating in the tournament as confirmed by Valve who also stated that they will be sending team invitations after the 1st of May. Tickets will be priced at $99 so you’ll want to get your credit cards ready.

There will be VIP packages but information about that is expected to be released later. Last year’s The International was particularly impressive as gamers managed to raise a whopping $10 million in prize money and we have to wonder how much gamers will be able to raise this year, and what kind of goodies/rewards Valve has planned.
