There were several reports late last year about how Samsung is going to reduce the number of smartphones that it will release in 2015 to better focus on its strengths and not lose money on devices that don’t end up performing well. That said, so far there have been no indications that Samsung is actually following through on these plans, as some information has surfaced which shows that the company might be working on an entirely new Galaxy H lineup of smartphones.

Samsung has however switched to a much more simpler naming convention. Instead of giving devices lengthy names it is going with a single alphabet and number instead, as evident from the Galaxy A, Galaxy E, and Galaxy J series.

Reports out of Korea suggest that the company has filed for Galaxy H1 and Galaxy H7 trademarks at the Korean Intellectual Property Office. This comes on the heels of another trademark filing from the company for Galaxy A6, Galaxy A8 and the Galaxy A9.

Obviously there is no surety that these monikers will ever represent a smartphone but given Samsung’s recent behavior of releasing devices with simpler names, it will not be surprising to see Galaxy H smartphones, if and when they arrive in the market.
