Google today released an update for its Gmail iOS app. A couple of new features have been added to the app through this update. Version 4.0 of the Gmail for iOS is live now and can be downloaded right away from the App Store. Quick actions happens to be the salient feature of this update which will allow users to quickly manage their email as it comes in, directly from notifications.
The updated Gmail for iOS app allows users to archive or reply to messages directly from a notification. This eliminates the need to launch the app to use two of the most widely used features for managing email quickly.
All users need to do now when a notification prompt appears at the top of the screen is tap on it and decide whether they want to shoot a reply then and there, or archive the email. The same actions can be taken when Gmail notifications are displayed on the lock screen by swiping.
Users can now attach photos and documents to Gmail from other apps, it will appear in the iOS system share sheet, so it doesn’t matter which app a user might be in they can attach and email photos and documents from within it using Gmail.
A new attachment viewer has also been added to the app which lets users open attachments from Gmail into any other app.
The updated Gmail for iOS app can be downloaded for free right now from the App Store.
