htc_themesThemes and customization is a great way to help personalize your handset and make it yours, if that’s the kind of thing that you’re after. One of the features of the HTC One M9 is the ability to apply a variety of different themes to the device which we guess is more or less to be expected, but HTC is taking things a step further by launching a theme website for the handset.

Basically this website will allow HTC One M9 users to create their own themes. For example it lets users upload images that can be used for background wallpapers for the lock and/or home screen, and based on those images accent colors can be chosen to help match it with the rest of the UI’s look.

Users will also be able to change icons, which was previously possible but we suppose with the website it makes things easier for novices. Other customizable options also includes sounds and the font. The best part is the users will also be able to upload their own creations so that other users will be able to browse it and download it if they like what they see, which is kind of similar to the Themer app by MyColorScreen.

In some ways it also reminds us a bit of the Moto Maker feature from Motorola where users to get customize their handset before it is delivered to them. If you’d like to check it out, head on over to the HTC Themes website for the details. In the meantime the HTC One M9 has been pegged for a release on the 10th of April.
