ipad_pro_8We have had the rumors that Apple could be reversing directions and instead of making more compact and smaller tablets, they could be looking to take cues from Samsung and Microsoft by developing larger tablets. The rumored 12-inch iPad Pro has been floating about for a while now and thanks to a new report from The Wall Street Journal, additional details about the tablet has surfaced.

According to the report, it seems that Apple could be introducing a USB 3.0 port to the tablet which is actually rather interesting as we would have thought that Apple would stick to the Lightning port. Apple has relied on non-proprietary ports for their computers (save for the chargers) so for them to turn to USB 3.0 would suggest that Apple sees the iPad Pro as more of a computer and less as a tablet.

However it is unclear as to whether or not the USB 3.0 port will completely replace the Lightning port or if it will simply be in addition to it. The report goes on to claim that Apple could be looking to introduce a rapid charging feature and considering how big Apple’s iPad batteries are, a rapid charge feature would be a welcome on.

There have also been rumors that the tablet could come with an optional keyboard accessory which seems to be similar to what Microsoft has done with their Surface tablets, turning them from tablets into laptop-like devices. All of this should probably be taken with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully we will have additional details to share in the near future.
