Previous rumors about the LG G4 have suggested that the smartphone would not have a fingerprint sensor even though it seems to be all the rage these days as far as high-end flagship smartphones are concerned. A report out of Korea suggests that LG has made a last minute decision to include a fingerprint sensor in the G4.

Citing multiple sources The Korea Herald reports that to jump into the “red-hot mobile payments market,” LG has made a last minute decision to add a fingerprint sensor to its upcoming flagship smartphone.

According to the report the fingerprint sensor is going to be placed at the back of the device, embedded in the power button, which on LG’s flagships happens to be at the back. That’s a feature unique to the company’s devices.

It is believed that LG wanted to install the sensor in the G3 last year but decided against it and instead went with a pattern-based security lock better known as the Knock Code.

The company has not commented on this report so there is no official word as yet, confirmation or denial, about the fingerprint sensor for its next flagship device.

LG G4 is expected to be announced next month. It may hit the market in May or June 2015. LG is also expected to launch another flagship smartphone later this year.
