Sony has confirmed that it is rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for a cache of Xperia devices today. The Sony Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and the Xperia Z3 Tablet are all receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update today. Previously Sony had released this update for these devices in test markets. Now it’s confident enough that the update is ready to be pushed out to all Xperia Z3 device owners around the world

The company confirmed today’s roll out through a tweet. Today’s update will bring up the devices to Lollipop from KitKat. People who prefer KitKat shouldn’t update but then they can’t complain about not having all of the features that people on Lollipop get to enjoy.

Sony also revealed today through tweets that this update will also be making its way to the Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet in the very near future. The company confirmed that the Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia Z3 will “soon” receive the Lollipop update as well.

Despite the fact that Sony has said that it’s pushing out the update for the aforementioned Xperia Z3 devices worldwide today availability is going to depend on region and carrier. It may take anywhere between a couple of days or a couple of weeks for Lollipop to land on your Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact or the Xperia Z3 Tablet.
