Yesterday we picked up on a leaked video which confirmed the release date for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Konami was supposed to make an announcement today and it had already started teasing that earlier this week, but yesterday’s leak spoiled its plans. Konami today officially confirmed the Metal Gear Solid 5 release date and its precisely what we reported today. The title will be released on September 1st, 2015.

It was initially believed that Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will be released in April or June 2015. Clearly that’s not the case and those reports have turned out to be false. Metal Gear Online, the competitive multiplayer mode of this title, is also going to go live on September 1st.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on September 1st. On next-generation consoles the title is going to cost $59.99. On previous-generation consoles the price tag will be $49.99.

PC gamers will have to wait for a couple of weeks after their console counterparts get the game but they can rest assured as its certainly arriving for the PC as well.

On September 15th, PC gamers will be able to purchase Metal Gear Solid 5 from Steam for $59.99.
