One of the first announcements that Apple made at its event today was of the partnership with HBO. It was rumored a few months back that the cable giant is working on a standalone internet TV streaming service. Today on stage at Apple’s event HBO Now was formally announced by the CEO of HBO. To mark the occasion a new Game of Thrones season 5 trailer was also played for the audience. That trailer is now available to watch online.
Game of Thrones is undoubtedly one of the best and most popular shows that HBO has ever created. The show’s fifth season is due to premiere on April 12th.
HBO Now, the new internet TV streaming service, will arrive in time for the premiere. It is exclusive to Apple’s devices at launch so in order to use it subscribers must have an Apple TV, an iPad or an iPhone.
This partnership is a great way for Apple to move more Apple TV units, hardware that’s over two years old now, but with a price cut down to $69 and this exclusive partnership with HBO the company just might get people interested in its set-top box once again.
The new Game of Thrones season 5 trailer doesn’t reveal any major plot details, trailers hardly ever do, so you can watch it without fear of spoilers.
