titanxIf you’re in the market for a new high-end GPU, we guess you pretty much only have two options to choose from – NVIDIA and AMD. If you’re a fan of the former you might be interested to learn that the company has recently taken the wraps off their latest high-end GPU in the form of the NVIDIA Titan X.

The exact details of the Titan X remain a mystery for now as NVIDIA’s CEO Jen-Hsun Huang said that those details will be shared at NVIDIA’s GPU Technology Conference which will be kicking off in two week’s time. However Huang did boast that the Titan X is the world’s most powerful GPU to date, thanks to the use of 8 billion transistors.

This is actually a pretty big jump from NVIDIA’s Titan Z which featured 7 billion transistors. The Titan X will be based on the company’s Maxwell architecture and will pack a whopping 12GB of VRAM which safe to say is more VRAM that the average gamer would ever need, but if you’re a hardcore gamer looking for the best of the best, this could be it.

The Titan X will be used to power Oculus’s Crescent Bay prototype headset in which the “Thief in the Shadows” video game can be played on. The game will put players in the shoes of a thief who will wade through coins while exploring a huge cave guarded by a massive dragon, kind of like The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
