Microsoft’s Xbox One got a head start in China as it went on sale in the country a few months back. Sony was due to release the PlayStation 4 in China on January 11th, 2015 but it was confirmed prior to the launch that the console’s release had to be delayed. Today the company has finally confirmed the PlayStation 4 China release date. Sony will begin selling both the PS4 and PS Vita in China starting later this month.

While no official reason was given for the delay it was reported that negotiations with the Chinese government were the reason why PS4’s release in China had to be delayed from January 11th.

Sony is going to sell the PlayStation 4 for 2,899 yuan or $463 in the People’s Republic while the PlayStation Vita will go for 1,299 yuan or $207. DualShock 4 controllers for the PS4 will cost 380 yuan, which comes to $60.

It was back in the year 2000 when China banned game consoles by foreign companies. Sony and Microsoft were deprived of this lucrative market for well over a decade. In September last year, following ease of restrictions by the Chinese government, Microsoft made the first move and released Xbox One in China.

Sony’s time is finally here. The company is going to release PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in China on March 20th.
