ipad-pro-leaked

It has been rumored since last year that Apple is working on a larger iPad. The unannounced tablet is commonly referred to as the iPad Pro and is believed to have a 12.9-inch display. At one point it was claimed that this tablet would be unveiled in early 2015 and clearly that hasn’t happened. Some images have appeared online today claiming to show the purported iPad Pro.

The odd trio of spy shots show a device that does look like an iPad. There’s a solid Apple logo at the back and at the upper-right a camera and microphone. On the curve of the right edge there are volume buttons, as one would expect on an iPad.

The left edge has a slot which could either be for a Lightning connector or USB Type-C. Apple has already adopted the USB Type-C standard in its new Retina MacBook. It will not surprise anyone if the company decides to opt for this standard for the iPad as well.

It is unclear if these images show a fully assembled unit or whether its only a shell. There’s no object nearby the device so it’s hard to discern the actual scale.

As expected these images have been leaked from China where the bulk production for Apple’s mobile devices takes place. Their authenticity cannot be independently verified, so take this with a grain of salt.
