tmo_signIt used to be that unlimited data was pretty popular back in the day, although carriers quickly phased out this plan by giving customers data caps instead. However it looks like unlimited data plans are starting to be worked back into the fold and according to reports, it looks like T-Mobile has been surprising some of their customers with free upgrades.

These upgrades will see customers enjoy unlimited 4G LTE data which will kick off on the 1st of April, which we’re seriously hoping is not an April Fools joke. It does not appear to be a permanent upgrade, unfortunately, and it will run until the end of the year which we guess is a bit of a pity, but either way it should no doubt be a welcome upgrade anyway.

According to the message T-Mobile sent its customers, “To thank you for being a loyal customer, some lines on your account are being upgraded to Unlimited 4G LTE data, starting April 1, 2015 through December 31, 2015—at no extra cost and with no action required!” We should note that only some customers have received this upgrade.

It is unclear as to how one qualifies for the free upgrade, like being a customer for at least a certain amount of time, good credit history with the carrier, and etc., but if you’re a T-Mobile customer, we guess this is something you can look out for just in case you’re one of the lucky few that gets upgraded.
