retina_macbookAs much as some users love OS X, there are some softwares that aren’t available for the platform which is why they might have to turn to Boot Camp to install Windows to allow them to run said software. Unfortunately if you’re still refusing to upgrade to Windows 8, you might be disappointed to learn that Apple’s new MacBook and refreshed MacBook Air & Pro models will no longer support Windows 7 in Boot Camp.

This was highlighted in the Boot Camp support document in which it states that Apple’s latest MacBooks will not support Windows 7. Instead users who want to use Boot Camp will have to turn to installing Windows 8. Apple had previously dropped support for Windows 7 in Boot Camp for the 2013 Mac Pro model and presumably this trend will continue with future Mac releases, so you’d best start getting used to Windows 8 if you plan on running Boot Camp in the foreseeable future.

Mac users were already not happy when Windows 7 support was dropped for the 2013 Mac Pro so we can only imagine that they will not be happy about this either. That being said it is understandable that Apple would do this as Windows 7 is getting a bit long in the tooth. The platform was released in 2009 and have recently stopped the sale of the operating system to OEMs. Microsoft had also announced that mainstream support for the platform has come to an end as well, so it only makes sense for Apple to begin to transition users away from it.
