The-Legend-of-Zelda-The-Wind-Waker-HD-8
Last month a very credible scribe reported that Nintendo and Netflix were working together to create a live-action TV series based on The Legend of Zelda. Fans were obviously were happy to hear this even though neither Nintendo nor Netflix confirmed this. Since Netflix has collaborated on many similar projects it didn’t seem impossible for the video streaming service to consider a series based on The Legend of Zelda. Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata has finally cleared the air though. He says the rumors have no weight at all.

The Nintendo boss rubbished The Wall Street Journal’s report from February which claimed that the company was working with Netflix on the Zelda series. Speaking to Time Magazine he said that Nintendo has nothing new to share regarding the use of its intellectual properties for any TV shows or films.

He didn’t tackle the subject vaguely though. Iwata said that “I can at least confirm that the article in question is not based on correct information,” he was answering to a question that referred to the WSJ’s report about Nintendo and Netflix’s collaboration on a Zelda series.

It merits mentioning here that Nintendo does have a tendency of denying things which later turn out to be true. In 2012 the Nikkei reported that Nintendo will release a larger model of the 3DS. At the time the company said the report was nothing more than “speculation.” Merely months after that comment Nintendo released the 3DS XL.

So the possibility exists that Nintendo and Netflix really are working together on a Zelda series, they just don’t want to talk about it at this point in time. Or it simply isn’t happening.
