apple watch batteryApple made claims that its Apple Watch would be able to last a day. Whether or not this is possible remains to be seen but so far there have been some initial reviews which expressed their disappointment with its battery life. That being said how does the Apple Watch’s battery stack up against the Android Wear competition?

As it turns out, on paper not so well. A recent teardown from the folks at iFixit has revealed the size of the Apple Watch battery which is 205mAh. Is this small? Yes, very because the Android Wear competition such as the LG G Watch R has a 410mAh battery, double that of the Apple Watch. Even the Moto 360 which has a smaller battery has a size of 320mAh, a good 115mAh greater than the Apple Watch.

This is why it does not come as a complete surprise that it can barely get users through an entire day’s use. However while battery size is one thing, there are other factors to take into consideration, such as the software running on it and how the user uses their wearable. However in Apple’s defense, they did make the both the hardware and the software so in terms of control and optimization, they do have the slight upper hand.

Of course all of this pales in comparison to other smartwatches out like, such as the Pebble Time Steel which boasts a whopping 10-day battery life. So if a 205mAh battery sounds a bit too small for you, there are plenty of alternatives out there with better battery life.
