quettra-screenshotIn terms of being loyal to a particular messenger app, who do you think comes out on top? One might think WhatsApp could be leading given that they are boasting over 700 million monthly active users, but as it turns out the winner in terms of app loyalty is none other than BlackBerry’s BBM!

This is according to data published mobile analytics provider Quettra who found out that BBM had the second highest user retention rate compared to 22 other Android social and messaging apps. As you can see in the graph above, BBM is definitely in second place with Facebook Messenger leading the way. The app managed to hold onto 93% of its users after 30 days, versus the average of 43% experienced by other apps.

The number dipped slightly to 89% after 60 days and 82% after 90 days which is still admittedly very impressive. In fact as the graph demonstrates, apps like BBM and WhatsApp don’t have any steep drops compared to other messaging apps such as WeChat, Twitter, and Snapchat. To a certain extent the loyalty to BBM isn’t particularly surprising.

The messaging app was one of the many reasons users chose to buy BlackBerry back in the days where BBM was an exclusive to BlackBerry handsets, although the app is now available on multiple platforms, but what do you guys think? Do you think it’s true that BBM users are more loyal to the app compared to other apps?
