uber safeIt looks like it is time for Uber to face the music, as a lawsuit has been filed against them by blind riders for alleged bias shown against them. This means that Uber Technologies Inc. will have to go to court, defending themselves against a lawsuit which has accused the hugely popular ride-sharing service (that has not been too well received in many countries by the taxi drivers there) of showing discrimination against blind people, as there is a refusal to transport guide dogs within, according to the ruling of a federal judge.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Nathanael Cousins in San Jose, California, did mention that the plaintiffs have been given the green light to pursue a claim which cites Uber is a “travel service” that is subject to potential liability under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The judge has also thrown out the suggestion by Uber that the National Federation of the Blind of California as well as the plaintiffs do not have the necessary standing to sue under the ADA and state laws protecting the disabled. There will be 14 days given to Uber in order to respond to this complaint formally. Ket us keep our fingers crossed that all will be ironed out amicably in due time.
