Last year at BlizzCon 2014, the company unveiled a new game in the form of Overwatch. This is a completely new franchise for Blizzard who has typically churned out games based on its Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo franchises over the years. Perhaps because it is a new franchise and a new game, Blizzard released a rather impressive cinematic announcement trailer.

Now Blizzard has been known for creating rather elaborate trailers in the past for their games, but with Overwatch’s trailer, one could easily mistake it for an animated movie from the likes of Pixar or Dreamworks, which is why it does not come as a surprise to learn that the trailer has been nominated for a Webby Award.

For those unfamiliar, a Webby Award is an award for excellence on the internet. It is presented annually by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences and covers a wide range of categories, such as websites, interactive advertising, online film and video, and so much more. Blizzard’s Overwatch is currently nominated for the Online Film & Video: Best Editing category, so if you think that this is a title that Blizzard deserves, head on over to the Webby Award’s website and place your vote!

In the meantime for those of you who are wondering what the fuss is over the announcement trailer, then sit back and set aside a few minutes and check it out in the video above. What do you guys think? Does Blizzard deserve to take the title home?
