cm_os_12We know there are many of you guys who have been eagerly looking forward to Cyanogen OS 12 for the OnePlus One. The update has been teased as “coming soon” for a while now and the good news is that it is already here, and according to a blog post by Cyanogen, the update is currently being rolled out to OnePlus One handsets.

According to the company, “Our Lollipop (‘L’) update begins to roll out to all OnePlus One device owners today. Enjoy sweet additions and improvements in our latest software release, above and beyond the goodness in Android Lollipop.” They also note that the update for YU Yureka handsets will be issued soon as well.

Cyanogen also confirms that they have included the Boxer email client in their latest OS 12 update. This email app will be the operating system’s default email client and it also seems to be part of Cyanogen’s strategy of taking Android away from Google by replacing as many of Google’s services and features within Android as possible, and we guess going with Boxer is one of the ways.

That being said we’re not sure for how long Cyanogen plans on supporting OnePlus One handsets. The relationship between both companies isn’t exactly the best at the moment, not to mention OnePlus has also released their own platform in the form of OxygenOS, but for those who are still fans of Cyanogen, then this is an update you should look forward to.
