iPhone-6-review-7Now this is definitely a sound bite that will definitely turn heads – it seems that a Manhattan district attorney has gone under the spotlight, citing that the iPhone could end up as the ‘device of choice’ for terrorists, now how about that for sensationalism?

A weekend conversation on radio station WNYM/970 AM saw Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. mention that the iPhone was “the terrorists’ communication device of choice,” and he cited the default disk encryption that is present in iOS 8 to play a role in that, too.

Vance mentioned during The Cats Roundtable, “Apple has created a phone that is dark, that cannot be accessed by law enforcement even when a court has authorized us to look at its contents. That’s going to be the terrorists’ communication device of choice.”

What do you think of Vance’s viewpoint? Does he have something solid to work on here, or is he just be a paranoid android? Vance also claimed due to the fact that this particular issue did not manage to garner widespread attention, the ball is now in the police’s court to place pressure on politicians so that they can undo the encryption efforts of Apple as well as Google. Google at the moment has not fully implemented default full-disk encryption in Android, but this does not mean that it will remain the same way down the road.
