Many smart TVs these days are capable of running the Netflix app but getting to it can be a chore. You turn on the TV, fire up the menu, locate the Netflix icon and then launch the app. The experience can be made much more simple and that’s what Netflix is going to do by teaming up with some of the biggest TV manufacturers.

Netflix is teaming with manufacturers to put a physical button right on the remote control itself. So launching Netflix will be as easy as switching a channel or changing the volume.

It will not require users to scroll through a menu just to locate the Netflix app. Pressing the button will instantly bring up the Netflix app and users will be able to stream right away.

For this purpose Netflix is partnering with manufacturers like Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, LG, Toshiba, Haier, Sharp and others. The OEMs will include the Netflix button in their new hardware at some point later this year.

While it has not been confirmed it is possible that OEMs could release new remotes for existing smart TVs that also eliminate the need to manually look for the app. This would allow many existing users to update their setup without having to dish out a considerable amount of money for a new television set.
