FaceCake today announced the launch of ShadeScout, it’s first makeup color search engine. The mobile app will allow users to locate products in the colors that they love, which they can then try using the Virtual Try-On feature, and if they like it they can put in a purchase order from within the app itself.

Users can draw inspiration from any color source, be it a flower in their garden or a celebrity’s lipstick in a magazine. They simply need to use ShadeScout to capture that color and see corresponding cosmetics products.

ShadeScout uses proprietary color search technology to sift through “an unlimited number of products” from over 50 major and luxury beauty brands, which enable the app to instantly deliver direct product matches in any makeup category.

“A search engine for today’s shoppers, ShadeScout makes it easy to find the products you want, virtually try them on, share them with friends, buy items, and is with you wherever you go,” said Linda Smith, the founder and CEO of FaceCake.

It can be any cosmetic product from lipstick, foundation, eyeshadow and blush to others, ShadeScout will let users find and virtually try on the product before they make the purchase.

The ShadeScout mobile app is now available for download through the App Store and the Google Play Store.
