android-5.0-lollipop

It has been a few weeks since Google released Android 5.1. The update has already made its way to several Nexus devices and some OEMs have also released it for their devices. Majority of the OEMs have yet to release Android 5.1 though and there’s word today that Samsung is hard at work to do just that. The Galaxy S6 Android 5.1 update is reportedly being developed.

It is also claimed in the report that Samsung has started developing Android 5.1 for the Galaxy Grand Prime as well. So it appears that for now the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy Grand Prime are going to be the first Samsung devices to receive this update.

Samsung is said to be developing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy Core Prime and Galaxy Mega 2 as well, they’re mid-range smartphones available in a handful of markets.

Given that most of Samsung’s flagship devices are running Lollipop the company is finally turning its attention towards mid-range devices. However it’s not known at this point in time precisely when Samsung will start rolling out the updates for these devices.

The report also touches on the subject of Lollipop for the Galaxy Note 2. Apparently Samsung has no build in development currently for the Galaxy Note 2 despite previous assurances that this phablet will be updated to Lollipop.
