google logoGoogle is no stranger when it comes to patents, but it looks as though they are interested in doing more than the status quo. In fact, the technology company with search and advertising as its bread and butter, has taken the bold move to launch a new portal – which is definitely experimental in nature, of course, in order to enable interested patent holders to actually sell their patents to the company, now how about that?

This experimental portal works in such a manner – if you happen to be a patent holder, you will be able to share about your patents with Google, and name your price over on the portal. It will then be up to Google whether they will take up your offer or not. Willing buyer, willing seller, no more and no less. Also known as the Patent Purchase Promotion program, this unique program will have a limited life span, since the window of opportunity will remain open from May 8 to May 22.

Google also did mention that they will inform the submitters of its interest in purchasing their patents by June 26, while sellers who are successful should see their respective bank accounts swell before August of this year is over.
