silent hillsEarlier today we reported that Konami had issued a Q&A about the future of the upcoming Silent Hills game. However the Q&A did not exactly confirm with a certainty that the game had been cancelled. Thankfully the company has since come forward with a more definitive answer and it’s not good news.

The company has officially confirmed with a statement that the game has been cancelled. “Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.”

That being said it seems that all might not necessarily be lost as the second part of the statement reads, “In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements.” We’re not sure what that means but it sounds like Konami wouldn’t mind working with either Hideo Kojima or Guillermo del Toro for future titles, although we’re not sure what was wrong with this one.

In the meantime the game’s playable teaser, also known as P.T. will be pulled from the Sony PlayStation Store this week so if you want to get in on a last run to see what could have been, you best get it on ASAP!
