relic runEarlier this year Square Enix trademarked the title “Lara Croft: Relic Run” which had many curious as to what the game could be about. It was speculated that maybe it could be an endless runner given the name and it looks like the speculators were right on the money. This was recently announced by Crystal Dynamics who confirmed the game is in the works.

The game isn’t being developed by Crystal Dynamics nor Square Enix, but Simutronics, but it will still be based on the same Tomb Raider franchise. That being said before you think that this game could just be another Temple Run endless runner styled game, Crystal Dynamics claims that it won’t be the case.

relic_run_2According to the company, “Many of you have correctly mused that Relic Run is an adventure runner, and at its core it is, but we feel that it’s much more than that. Relic Run offers a massive amount of diversity in play, allowing for seamless transitions between acrobatic-inspired running, combat, vehicles, and epic boss fights, including but not limited to the return of the infamous T-Rex.”

For those living in The Netherlands, the game has been soft launched in your market for iOS and Android devices, so you can go ahead and check it out if you want. It will be a free-to-play title and for gamers in other parts of the world, you can expect its release in the coming months.
