yellow-meizu-m1-mini-spyMeizu, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer that has more or less become a household name, is said to have announced that they have successfully sold approximately 2 million devices in the previous month alone. To put things into perspective, Meizu sold 1 as well as 1.5 million smartphones in the months of December 2014 and January 2015, respectively. Hence, to shift 2 million devices in March this year is certainly not an achievement that one should sneeze at.

It was in February earlier this year that the VP of Marketing and Sales at Meizu, Li Nan, mentioned how the company has set the lofty target of hitting the 20 million mark before the curtain falls down on the year 2015. It must be noted, however, that he has also maintained that this is not all that high on their priority list – if it happens, it happens, otherwise life would just move on as usual. One should also take into account how Alibaba Group did make an announcement not too long ago that they will invest more than half a billion dollars – $590 million thereabouts, in Xiaomi. Now, if that is not a serious show of faith in Meizu’s ability as a company, then I am not quite sure what else will it take to convince the masses that they are here to stay.
