iPhone-6-review-12

Apple’s new iPhones are not expected until the fall but already we’re hearing rumors about what the company is going to introduce with its next-generation handsets. A report out from Taiwan claims that the company is going to use significantly stronger aluminum to made the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. It will actually be the same aluminum that the company is using for the Apple Watch.

If you’re interested in specifics, the report claims that the next-generation iPhones will be fashioned out of Apple’s custom Series 7000 aluminum alloy.

During the Apple Watch unveiling the company said that this alloy is 60 percent stronger than conventional aluminum, and has one-third the density of stainless steel, while being lightweight at the same time.

To achieve a consistent satin texture each aluminum casing is machined, polished and then blasted with microscopic zirconia beads. That’s what Apple described when it was explaining the manufacturing process of the Apple Watch.

The company is expected to follow it for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus as well. This doesn’t seem like one of those impossible rumors, rather, this actually feels plausible.

There’s nothing stopping Apple from using the same material on its next-generation smartphones and the company has been able to perfect the manufacturing process with its smartwatch.

Nevertheless it remains to be seen if Apple goes down this road for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. We’ll find out for sure this fall.
