korea-bikelaneGoing green takes a whole lot more effort than to recycle all of the cardboard and plastic in your home, driving a hybrid vehicle, or perhaps cycling to school or work. No sir, there are many other ways to live a greener lifestyle, and having solar panels installed on your roof is one of them. Having said that, it looks like South Korea has taken the creative use of solar panels to a whole new level – by installing them along the entire length of a bicycle lane.

Doing so not only helps shield the cyclists from the brunt of the searing afternoon sun, it will also be able to help generate much needed electricity for any city to run. Talk about killing a couple of birds with a single stone! Do bear in mind that this might not be the first idea of its kind in the world, since there is already a solar bike panel path that has been launched in the Netherlands.

Still, at least this is a start in South Korea, although placing a bicycle lane right smack in the middle of a highway is not exactly the route to take if you would like to get outdoors and enjoy a little bit of fresh air, right?
