star-trek-selfieThe wonders of having a front facing camera, or if you so happen to have mad skills at positioning the rear facing camera well to shoot a perfect selfie. Astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti has such skills, as she pays tribute to a “Star Trek” icon by taking part in a cosplay photo – in a zero gravity environment, of course.

Captain Kathryn Janeway was the one behind the USS Voyager in the Star Trek series, having brought her crew through a slew of adventures in space, and happens to be the first female Starfleet captain who plays a lead role in a “Star Trek” series. While Janeway remains as a fictional character, she has inspired her fair share of ladies who would not mind a career away from earth.

Samantha Cristoforetti, who hails from the European Space Agency, is also the first Italian woman in space, and she decided to celebrate her moment by paying tribute to Captain Janeway at approximately 250 miles above Earth. Right now, Cristoforetti is hanging out at the International Space Station, and you can check out her tweet here in her selfie. She is fully dressed in a “Star Trek: Voyager”-style red and black uniform, complete with a purple turtleneck.
