tesla inviteTesla will be unveiling something new on the 30th of April which at the moment has been speculated to be a battery for the home. That being said the company has also started to send out invitations to the event which you can see in the image above and according to the invite it says, “The missing piece”, although we can’t be 100% sure as to what Tesla might be alluding to.

However it does show a white box which some speculate could be the battery cabinet that the company will unveil at its event. Not much is known about the device for now, but the idea is that it will help to store the energy generated by solar panels so that customers will have access to energy when they need it and stop relying on regular forms of energy in the process.

A report by The Guardian also revealed some additional details about the device. For starters it is expected to be a rented device meaning that customers can’t buy it. It will be priced starting at $1,500 and will see users pay monthly repayments. This is supposedly a better alternative to buying it outright which will reportedly see a price tag with five figures on it. Then again this isn’t surprising as we don’t expect such batteries to be so cheap in the first place.

As we’ve stated in an earlier report, Tesla will not be the first company to envision homes being powered by batteries. Previously companies such as Toyota and Nissan have toyed with such ideas as well, but it remains to be seen if Tesla will be able to succeed where they have not, so be sure to check back with us on the 30th of April for the official details.
