The weekend is upon you and you decide that maybe a nice way to relax and unwind would be to take your bike, hit up the park or beach and just cycle around for an hour or two. Sounds fun, doesn’t it? However if you’re looking to shake things up but don’t want to give up on the wheels, then perhaps the Halfbike II might be the solution.

The Halfbike II is a Kickstarter project which seems to have combined a unicycle, scooter, and bicycle into one. It has elements of all these modes of transportation. For example it has pedals like one might expect from a bike; it has no seat and requires the user to stand like a scooter, and in some ways it balances almost like a unicycle, except that there are two wheels at the back that helps keep you from toppling over.

The device is made from aluminum and plywood and weighs 18 pounds. It can be folded down to make it more portable if you were to take it with you on the train. It also makes it easy to keep away if you want to bring it with you to school or to the office. Now based on the video we have to admit that the Halfbike II looks like a really fun ride and the good news is that the project has since exceeded its goal.

halfbike appThe creators of the Halfbike II have added a stretch goal stating that if they were to hit the $400,000 mark they will develop an app for the Halfbike II which will act as a social app of sorts and connect other Halfbike II users to each other if they’re nearby. If you’d like to learn more or pledge your support, hit up its Kickstarter page for the details or check it out in the video above.
