lumia830-chinaMany are still waiting on Microsoft to officially announce a flagship Windows Phone handset especially after they had acquired Nokia, but so far we haven’t really seen much from the Redmond company save for a slew of low-mid range handsets. According to a report from NPU, it seems that the mid-range trend will continue at Microsoft.

They have learnt from their sources that Microsoft has plans for some upper-mid range Lumia handsets, one of which is the tentatively-named Lumia 840. The handset is rumored to sport a 5-inch display and will come with a 13-14MP rear-facing PureView camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, a better processor and could sport a slightly modified designed compared to that of the Lumia 830.

The other potential handset that could be in the works has been tentatively-named as the Lumia 740 XL. This is another mid-range handset that could feature a 5.5-inch to 5.7-inch display and could also feature similar camera specs as the rumored Lumia 840, except for the fact that it will not be of the PureView branding.

However NPU notes that all of this could be subject to change as the information they got was preliminary. No word on when Microsoft will announce these new handsets or their flagship smartphones, but we’re definitely curious to see what Microsoft has up their sleeves.
