It is common knowledge and it is expected of many that if you drove to a bar or club and had one too many drinks that you’re not supposed to drive home. You could either hail yourself a cab or get a friend to drop you home or pick you up from said bar or club. However in a bid to promote its services, Uber has recently set up an Uber Safe kiosk in Toronto.

Basically this is a breathalyzer kiosk where users can go up to it and blow into it to see if their blood-alcohol is over the legal limit. If the user were to go over the limit, Uber would basically give them a free ride home. That being said this isn’t a permanent installation as the company has stated that it is more of a promotional stunt.

However it seems that reception to the promotion has been very well received and that the company is “thrilled” by the early responses they have been getting. It also seems that because of the great feedback that more kiosks could be installed in the near future. That being said it does seem like it could end up costing Uber quite a bit to keep giving away free rides, but it does seem like a good idea for the future. What do you guys think?
