vulcan-emojiLess than a week ago, we did bring you word that iOS 8.3 is all set to arrive with brand new emoji as well as other features. The thing is, are there special emoji that not too many people are aware of? Just in case you yourself are in the dark, here we are with word on how one can access the Vulcan salute emoji in iOS 8.3 as well as OS X 10.10.3, now how about that?

Do take note that this is a hidden feature, and surely after you figure out how to apply a Vulcan salute emoji to texts, tweets and messages, you will not stop. While the Vulcan salute was not part of the latest emoji pack released by Apple with iOS 8.3, there is still support for the special character within the system level, which translates to it being able to be used as a standard keyboard shortcut option.

You will first need to pay a visit to this tweet on an iOS device that has iOS 8.3 running, where you then tap and hold to highlight the text, before adjusting to select the Vulcan salute character and tap “Copy” in the contextual pop-up menu.

From there, drop by device Settings > General > Keyboard, and pick the Shortcuts option. iOS will enable one to create text shortcuts when it comes to commonly used phrases. While you are in the Shortcuts pane, select the “+” icon at the top right corner in order to add a new phrase. Tap and hold or double-tap inside the Phrase text box and select “Paste”, and then enter a relevant recall phrase as a Shortcut, and you’re good to go!
