wimbledon-selfie-sticks

Some people love selfie sticks because they let them take wide-angle photos with their smartphone, allowing to fit all of their friends in the frame or even get a sweeping shot of whatever’s going on in the background. While there are others who absolutely loathe selfie sticks and believe that they shouldn’t be deemed socially acceptable. Regardless of what side you’re on, if you’re heading to watch world class tennis players at Wimbledon remember to not pack your selfie stick.

The biggest tennis players from all across the world will gather at the All England Lawn Tennis Club to take part in this prestigious event in June. Obviously Wimbledon pulls in a big crowd which includes but isn’t limited to celebrities, politicians and members of England’s royal family.

The law has been clearly laid down in the official Wimbledon ticketholders’ guide, selfie sticks will not be allowed into the grounds, so don’t even think about taking one.

Now this isn’t the first time that selfie sticks have been banned from a popular event. Here in the United States some of the hottest music festivals of the year have also told attendees that selfie sticks are banned so they shouldn’t bring one.

The Sunday Times received word from a spokesperson that Wimbledon decided to take this step due to selfie sticks’ “nuisance value,” and the fact that they can potentially “interfere with spectators’ enjoyment.”
