The Xbox One has long been capable of streaming individual files through Windows PCs but the latest update is going to make it much easier for people who want to stream content from a mobile device. Miracast can also be used to mirror a mobile device’s screen. An update for the SmartGlass preview app finally brings Xbox One Miracast support, this will enable users who have a mobile device that supports Miracast to throw content up on the big screen using the console.

The latest SmartGlass preview update is also going to allow Xbox One owners to power their consoles on and off. This works with beta versions of the SmartGlass apps for Windows, Windows Phone and Android.

Live TV streaming has also entered the preview stage. Microsoft announced last month that the over-the-air TV Tuner feature for users in the United States and Canada will arrive in the near future.

Users will also be able to select their preferred power mode for the console, either they can choose to keep it at Instant-On or opt for the new Energy-saving mode that’s presented as an option now to all those who set up the Xbox One for the first time.

Microsoft is working on enabling game streaming and it’s expected that this feature will arrive with the Xbox One update for May.
