The Apple Watch Edition costs an insane amount of money starting at $10,000 and can even go up to $17,000. Naturally not many of us will be willing to spend that much on a watch, let alone a smartwatch, which is why enterprising jewelers have come up with ways to gold-plate your Apple Watch for a fraction of the price.

Now in case you’d still rather not spend hundreds giving your Apple Watch a gold makeover, you’re in luck as there is now a $100 DIY kit which will give your wearable a 24K gold makeover for well, $100. Dubbed the Midas Touch, this is a Kickstarter project put together by chemist Eric Knoll that is looking for funding so if this sounds like something you might be interested in, head on over to its Kickstarter page for the details.

However like we said this is a DIY project meaning that you will have to do it yourself, versus the other services we mentioned earlier where you could actually send in your Apple Watch to get it gold plated, or buy one from them that has already been plated. Granted the end result isn’t quite the same as the rose gold finish on the Apple Watch Edition, but it still looks pretty good, especially if you’re into having a fancy gold watch.

The Midas Touch will begin at $100 for the basic kit and will go up to $150 if you have a steel band that you would like to give a gold plating as well. Either way it is still cheaper than the Apple Watch Edition and admittedly one of the cheaper solutions out there as well.
