Asus-ZenFone-5-05

Asus hasn’t been fast in sending out the Lollipop update for the Zenfone 5 and it appears that the company is delaying the release event further. The last update regarding the status of Lollipop for Zenfone 5 came earlier this month when the company said that Lollipop will be released for this handset in “mid-May.” Don’t keep your fingers crossed because that’s not going to happen.

It has been revealed by Asus India through its official Facebook page that the Asus Zenfone 5 Lollipop update release has been delayed by as many as 3-4 months.

The possibility exists that this delay timeframe might not apply in all markets since Indian carriers could be the cause of the holdup for this release, but so far there hasn’t been much evidence to support the claim that the Zenfone 5 is going to receive Lollipop in other markets very soon.

Given that this handset isn’t all that different from the Zenfone 4 and Zenfone 6 it’s possible that this delay could affect those devices as well, at least in India, though it remains to be seen if the delay carries over to other markets as well.

So far Asus has not provided a confirmed release date in any market for the release of Lollipop for the Zenfone 5.
