foxconn-factory-680x382There is a new rumor going around, and it involves the folks over at Foxconn. It seems that the company which has come into the limelight for a fair number of years already due to its association with helping Apple manufacture a number of its products, is said to be re-entering India with new manufacturing facilities. This contract manufacturer happens to assemble plenty of smartphones, was mentioned in a report that was recently published. In that particular report, Devendra Fadnavis, India’s Chief Minister of the state, did confirm that Foxconn is set to invest a large sum of dough in either Pune or Aurangabad.

Another area of India where Foxconn could very well establish its facility would include Gujarat, Noida, and Andhra Pradesh, which does seem to jive with the “Made in India” program that the existing government has worked for since its previous political campaign.

-Devendra Fadnavis, Indian Chief Minister, did mention, “India has the world’s largest number of cellphones but only 7 percent of these mobile handsets are manufactured in the country. The rest are imported. Foxconn is eager to set up a complete ecosystem with (even) suppliers and not just an assembly line.”

Only time will be able to tell whether all of the above will become reality or not.
