google logoA little over a week ago, a report from The Wall Street Journal revealed that Google was looking to introduce a Buy button to the search results of its website. At that time it was unconfirmed as the publication was basing it on reports from people familiar with the matter. Well for those of you guys who thought it was a good idea, you will be pleased to learn that it is indeed coming.

This is according to Google’s chief business officer Omid Kordestani who spoke at the Code Conference on Wednesday. According to Kordestani, he basically confirmed that the Buy button was for real and that it would be launched soon. “There’s going to be a buy button. It’s going to be imminent.”

For those unfamiliar with how this works, basically there will be a Buy button placed on Google’s paid product listing ads. From there users will be able to click the button which in turn will take them to a Google page that will allow them to complete the purchase. The idea is that it helps reduce the number of steps involved in purchasing an item, which apparently can put some people off.

It would also help to increase online purchases. Kordestani noted that a lot of search queries have led to offline purchases as the number of searches of users looking for a shop/product near them have double in the past year. That being it does sound like a pretty convenient feature but what do you guys think? Will this be something you see yourself taking advantage of in the future?
