huawei-mate-7-review-20Last year Huawei launched the Mate 7 handset which is actually a pretty nicely-designed phone. It featured pretty thin bezels which allowed the phone to sport a larger display but not feel too bulky. Presumably its successor the Mate 8 will be following in its footsteps and if the rumors are to be believed, the Huawei-made Nexus is said to be based on that of the Mate 8.

At the moment no one really knows what the upcoming Mate 8 handset from Huawei looks like, but it has been speculated that it will share a similar design to the Mate 7, so you can always try to imagine the Mate 7 as a Nexus device if you want to get a very rough idea of what to expect. It might not necessarily be 100% accurate but you get the picture.

However apart from sharing similarities in its design, under the hood is where the differences will lie. The upcoming Huawei Nexus phone is rumored to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor whereas the Huawei Mate 8 is said to be powered by the company’s own Kirin 930 processor, although there are rumors that Huawei could use the Kirin 950 to power the Nexus but that remains to be seen.

Other than that, both phones will have some shared specs too, such as a 5.7-inch QHD display, a metal chassis, and generous use of glass. Take it with a grain of salt for now but perhaps we might learn more at Google I/O which kicks off next week.
