lg-call-app

LG has released a new application which allows people who own its latest and greatest Android Wear smartwatch to make calls directly from the wearable device. LG Call is the app in question and it’s only available for the LG Watch Urbane. The company has released other Android Wear smartwatches but this app will only work with the Watch Urbane.

It should be kept in mind though that the Watch Urbane can’t make phone calls on its own, it needs to be hooked up to an Android smartphone for that since it doesn’t have native cellular functionality.

So basically the LG Call application for Android Wear works as a bridge between the smartwatch and the smartphone, allowing the user to make phone calls right from their wrist as look as they’re paired with the phone.

Those who would like to have a smartwatch that has native cellular capability then they should instead consider purchasing the LG Watch Urbane LTE.

This does raise an important question though. If this app merely acts as a bridge why not make it work with all Android Wear smartwatches that LG has already released, such as the original G Watch and the G Watch R?

Many users have taken to app’s review section in the Google Play Store to blast LG’s decision to make it exclusive to the G Watch Urbane.

LG hasn’t said as yet if it plans on opening up this application to all of its existing Android Wear smartwatches.
