ms-ntrigIn February earlier this year, we did bring you word on how Microsoft is mulling over whether they should pick up the company known as N-Trig or not. Well, now that we are in May, it looks like a deal has been done and dusted, a confirmation has trickled out from Microsoft concerning their N-Trig purchase. Just before we continue, it would be good to refresh one’s memory concerning what N-Trig does – this is the company that deals with advanced digital pen technology, basically high tech styluses.

Apart from that, N-Trig also happens to be the ones who came up with the Surface pen, and this means that Microsoft’s acquisition intends to see a wider range of its hardware production happen in-house. Indirectly speaking, this should lower the amount of costs involved, and in the long run, we can only keep our fingers crossed that the overall price of future Surface devices, as well as hardware products from Microsoft, will be more affordable to the masses. The Wall Street Journal did claim that Microsoft paid out $30 million for the N-Trig acquisition.

With this acquisition, word on the street has it that N-trig’s employees will be transferred to Microsoft’s office over in Israel. Not too bad an idea, taking into consideration what a beautiful country that is, although the political instability in the region might prove to be a turn off for the less adventurous.
